Level 1B and 1C Online | ACE Funded Course | Term 4
This 8-week course meets for up to 2 hours each week, at the same time on the same evening.
Description
Combined Learning Outcome – NZSL Level 1B & 1C
By the end of these courses, learners will confidently communicate in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) across a range of everyday and community contexts.
They will be able to exchange personal information, describe daily routines, discuss family, food, health, and home life, and share personal experiences to enrich conversations.
Learners will also engage in social interactions by offering compliments, making introductions, inquiring about well-being, and using the weather as a conversation starter.
Practical communication skills include navigating essential services, describing occupations, making bookings, discussing payments, and participating in both casual and formal conversations.
Throughout the courses, learners will build grammatical fluency, use facial expressions, eye gaze, and fingerspelling effectively, and gain deeper cultural awareness of the Deaf community—promoting respectful, confident, and inclusive communication.
